That 7 Things Thing
I might be a little late with this one but I’m sure you’re all aware of the 7 Thing meme that’s been so popular on tumblr lately. I was tagged by Mr. John Phillips, so I feel a need to fulfill my social obligation. So, here are mine…
- I’m also a mama’s boy (via jwphillips). I have always been, and always will be. This doesn’t mean that I’m not a daddy’s boy either, but my mother & I have always had such a strong bond with each other. We’re both intellectuals and care about the same things, which is funny because most people think I’m more like my father. However, both of my parents have proven to be exceptional role models for both my brother & I and I love them for that.
- I used to be a band geek. Yes, that’s right. I played clarinet, bass clarinet and baritone saxophone from 5th grade up until sophomore year in high school. Band was my passion in middle school, which is why I took up guitar after I quit. And it is also why…
- I’m obsessed with music. Every night I come home from work, I look for new music. Whenever I find myself bored, I look for new music. I remember when thinking 10 GB of music was a lot, but now I have 110 GB. Some may think I have a problem, but if you had a 750 GB hard drive I’m sure you’d do the same.
- I am a closet nerd. I know I look & act pretty damn cool in person (ha), but deep down inside I have a passion for some really nerdy things, mainly programming and video games. I wouldn’t consider myself an all-out nerd, but I do find pleasure in some nerdy mediums.
- I actually never really minded school all that much. School sucked when you had to do work, but I always thought of work as a step towards learning something new. I am obsessed with learning new stuff, which is why I’m always scouring the internets for new books to read. I think this comes from my mother, who is a teacher.
- I had potential to be a great pitcher (kind of). I played baseball for over ten years, which was half of my life just a couple years ago. I played freshman year of high school but quit after I joined a band. My claim to fame was blowing a perfect game with 2 outs left. People said I would have been a top starter for the varsity team my sophomore year, but at that time baseball was getting too political for me and most of my friends didn’t even make the team, even though they were a lot better than some of the other players.
- I was a singer in a punk band. Yes, that’s right. I was in a punk band for my junior & senior years of high school, and absolutely loved it. Sometimes I regret those days because I was so angry (courtesy of President Bush), but I’ve accepted that those days have made me the person I am today. The name of our band was Waldo, and we continue to receive requests for a renunion. You can check us out on purevolume.
So, there are 7 secrets I’m sure you never knew about me. Hope you enjoyed them. Since I don’t know many other people on tumblr, I’m stealing 7 links from John Phillips.
