1st Beer Review: BBC Coffeehouse Porter
So this is my first official beer review (which you can also find here). I chose a beer that I know very well, which is the Coffeehouse Porter by Berkshire Brewing Company. Without further ado, here it is!
Appearance - This beer pours a dark brown, almost black, with a nice, creamy, beige head that stays with the beer throughout. Minimal lacing but just enough.
Smell - Very upfront scent of coffee & other roasty goodness. Not very much hop presence. Held together with a subtle malt presence in the background.
Taste - Just like the scent, very upfront taste of coffee followed by a sweet aftertaste. There is almost a bitterness similar to that of espresso towards the end of the taste. Quite enjoyable.
Mouthfeel - The overall mouthfeel of this beer isn’t too heavy or thick, medium-bodied. Just enough carbonation for a porter that eventually mellows out towards the end.
Drinkability - This is the perfect beer for a 22 oz. bottle. Not sure if I’d be able to drink more than that in a night.
Overall, this is one of my favorite coffee brews, mainly because it’s tasty & affordable! Highly recommended for all you coffee & beer lovers out there.
