Ux Design: Common Excise Traps

Found a list of some traps that designers get caught up in when designing user interfaces & defining the user experience. Think of this as the 9 commandments of what NOT to do when it comes to UI/UX design. Take some notes!

  • Don’t force users to go to another window to perform a function that affects the current window.
  • Don’t force users to remember where they put things in the hierarchical file system.
  • Don’t force users to resize windows unnecessarily.
  • Don’t force users to move windows.
  • Don’t force users to reenter their personal settings.
  • Don’t force users to fill fields to satisfy some arbitrary measure of completeness.
  • Don’t force users to ask permission.
  • Don’t ask users to confirm their actions.
  • Don’t let a user’s actions result in an error.
